The Princeton University Department of Athletics will be participating in the 15th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration. The event, which will be held on college campuses throughout the country, is set for Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Princeton festivities will be cosponsored by the Delaware-Raritan Girl Scouts Council.
The schedule for Princeton begins at 6 p.m. with an interactive sports fair. Hosted by the school's female athletes, the fair is designed to introduce girls and women to athletic opportunities available at Princeton University. All 18 Princeton varsity women's teams will be represented.
At the conclusion of the fair, the Princeton women's basketball team will host Harvard in an Ivy League game (7 p.m.).
Admission to the event is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 14. All seating is general admission, and the first 1,000 fans will receive free goodie bags compliments of Fleet Bank.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day was established by Congress in 1987 to call attention to the positive influence of sports and fitness participation and seeks to advance the struggle for equality and access for women in sports.
