Men's Soccer Faces Third Ivy League Opponent This Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J - The Princeton men's soccer team looks to get back on the winning track this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when Columbia visits Lourie-Love Field. Princeton comes off two losses in a week while the Lions are riding a two game winning streak. Both teams are 1-1 in the Ivy League.

96th Reunion - Princeton and Columbia men's soccer share a history dating back to 1907, when the Lions won the first meeting 3-1. In 52 games, Princeton trails 15-31-6 and has not won in the past nine years.
Penalty Pains - Princeton's Adrian Melville scored what appeared to be the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute against Columbia last year, but the goal was waived because of a penalty. The Lions capitalized with a breakaway goal in the 85th minute, giving Columbia a 1-0 win at Lions Stadium.
Playing the Field - Princeton's Jeff Hare came out of his defensive position to score two goals in the past four games. He scored with a header against Adelphi and on a penalty kick at Brown. Leaders of the Pack - Darren Spicer has a team-high three goals for six points while Jame Wunsch has six points off two goals and two assists. Hare and Kyle McHugh each scored twice this season.
Decisive Games- Columbia is 6-3-0 with no ties this season. They are 2-1 in three overtimes.
W's and L's - Columbia opened its season with a 1-0 loss to Hofstra but then won four straight against Navy, Army, Adelphi and San Francisco. The Lions lost 2-0 to Saint Mary's (Calif.) and 1-0 to Brown in two overtimes.
Winning Streak- Columbia comes off two wins - a 2-1 overtime victory of Long Island and a 2-1 conference win against Penn.
Common Opponents - Both teams beat Adelphi and lost to Brown. Columbia defeated Adelphi 3-2 in overtime while Princeton won 2-1. The Lions fell 1-0 to Brown and the Tigers lost 3-1.
Climbing the Ivies - Columbia and Princeton are each 1-1 in the Ivy League. The Lions defeated Penn and the Tigers defeated Dartmouth.
Offensive-Minded - The Lions have outscored their opponents 11-9 and average 1.2 goals per game. They have taken 12 more shots (128) then their opponents, including nine overtime shots. They are second in the Ivy League with 14.22 shots per game.
Green Machine - Ajene Green leads Columbia's offense with three goals for six points, although he has only taken eight shots. Stephen Foster also has six points off two goals and two assists.
Recent Best - Junior Jorrell Best scored the gamewinner in Columbia's last two games. Those were his first and only two goals of the year.
Trigger Happy - Tommy McMenemy and Thorsteinn Gestsson have taken a team-high 25 and 24 shots each, the fourth and fifth highest numbers in the Ivy League.
Dean's List - Dean Arnaoutakis has played every minute in goal for the Lions and boasts a 0.96 goals against average and a .809 save percentage. His 38 saves in nine games is the third highest in the Ivy League.
