Box Score
Shannon Farrell had 24 kills and 27 digs and Yale dominated the fifth and decisive game, hitting .632 on the way to a 15-4 victory, as the Bulldogs came from behind to defeat Princeton, 3-2, in an Ivy League women's volleyball match played at Dillon Gym Friday night.
Game scores were 30-25, 25-30, 24-30, 37-35, and 15-4.
Yale (9-7, 4-4 Ivy) turned the tide in the match in the end of the wild fourth game, one that saw the Tigers (14-6, 5-3 Ivy) ahead in the match two games to one and ahead on the scoreboard 26-24. But the Bulldogs scored four straight points to go ahead 28-26 and never trailed the rest of the game. Princeton rallied to tie the match at 29-29 and then would tie the score at 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35, but the Bulldogs were finally able to get a kill on their own serve and end the game. Lauren Grumet had 19 kills for Princeton, while Alex Brown had 18 kills and hit .255 for the match. Jenny McReynolds led the Tigers with 36 digs, while Anja Perlebach had 41 digs for Yale.
The Bulldogs had 12 kills and no errors in the fifth and decisive game, taking a big early lead of 8-3 by the time the teams switched sides of the court. Yale then won four straight points after that.
At 5-3 in the Ivy League, Princeton still controls its own destiny as far as the league championship is concerned. Cornell has two league losses and Harvard three after the Big Red defeated the Crimson Friday, and the Tigers play Cornell and Harvard once more each before season's end.
Lauren Loban added 15 kills and 13 digs for Princeton Friday night, while Ashley Weber had 10 kills and 17 digs. Renee Lopes had 22 kills for Yale, while Jana Freeman had 17 kills and 24 digs.
Princeton hosts Brown Saturday afternoon at Dillon Gym.
