LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Princeton women's doubles team of juniors Alison Hashmall and Jessica Siebel won two matches at the prestigious ITA All-American Invitational held in Los Angeles this past weekend.
Hashmall and Siebel defeated Lewis and Erickson of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo by an 8-3 score in the first round Saturday, then defeated the team of Hajbane/Sulyos from Jacksonville by an 8-2 score in the second round.
In the third round, against the team of Dickes and Dulgheru of Pepperdine, Hashmall and Siebel were leading most of the way before a Pepperdine break of serve at 5-5 propelled the Waves to an 8-5 victory.
Hashmall also played singles in the tournament. She fell to Mississippi State's Zsuzana Fodor in the first round by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
"It was very encouraging to see Alison and Jessica hold their own against the country's best," said Princeton assistant coach Marc Lucero. "Every elite team in the country participates in this event, so it's great experience for our players."
