Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team (21-16) visits St. John's (25-14) Tuesday night in a mid-week non-conference game at the Ballpark at St. John's. Princeton has posted wins in each of the past two seasons over the Red Storm and will look to make it three in a row when the first pitch is thrown at 7 p.m.
Live stats will be available by clicking the Gametracker link on the front page of GoPrincetonTigers.com.
The all-time series between Princeton and St. John's is knotted up at 15 apiece. The Tigers have taken three straight in the series, which began in 1967. Princeton leads the all-time series 4-2 in games played in Queens. Princeton is undefeated, 2-0, in games played at the Ballpark.
Last season Princeton posted a 7-4 win at St. John's thanks to a six-run fourth inning. Tim Lahey and Eric Fitzgerald both homered in the game while Matthew Becker had a pair of RBIs. Erik Stiller posted the win, the first of his career. The year before that, Princeton posted a similar 7-5 win at the Ballpark. Lahey also hit a home run in that game and drove in three runs. St. John's is 25-14 overall this season and 12-5 in Big East play. They also sport a strong 13-3 record at home. Rutgers and Columbia are the only common opponents on the Tiger and Red Storm schedules. St. John's swept two games from Rutgers last Sunday and took one from Columbia in late March. Princeton dropped its lone midweek game with Rutgers and swept the Lions, taking four straight two weekends ago.
Princeton continues its Ivy League season on Friday with a doubleheader at Cornell and finishes the league's regular season Sunday at home versus Cornell. Princeton needs to win one of the four games to clinch the Gehrig Division title.
