PRINCETON, N.J. - Five Princeton fencers were named to All-Ivy League teams, the league office announced Friday. All five are headed to the NCAA Championships in Houston, Texas next weekend.
Jacqueline Leahy, a senior foil, went 18-0 in Princeton's six Ivy matches, one of only two fencers, men's or women's, to go undefeated this year. She has finished in the top seven nationally each of her first three seasons and will look to make it a fourth next weekend.
Sara Jew-Lim was also named first-team All-Ivy in the foil, going 14-4 in Ivy competition while junior Erin McGarry, an epee, had the best record in the league with the weapon, finishing 15-3.
On the men's side, Ben Solomon was one of two fencers with a league-best 12-3 record in the epee, earning first-team honors. Tommi Hurme earned a place on the second-team All-Ivy with an 8-4 record.
The women's team finished 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the league while the men finished 6-3 and 3-2 in league competition. The NCAA Championships, hosted by Rice University, are Mar. 16-19.
