Women's Lacrosse Routs Brown, 16-2, Finishes 5-2 In Ivy Play

Princeton allowed its fewest goals since the 2003 season and had 11 players score at least once in a 16-2 women's lacrosse win over Brown Saturday at Class of 1952 Stadium, giving the Tigers a 5-2 Ivy finish heading into two key non-conference games next week.
The Tigers (9-5) scored six times in a nine-minute span midway through the first half to take a 6-0 lead, with the goals coming from five different players. The Tigers would take a 9-0 lead before Brown (4-10, 1-5 Ivy) scored its first goal three minutes before halftime.
Princeton, which defeated Brown for the 16th consecutive season, forced the running clock that comes with a 10-goal lead 1:48 into the second half on Holly McGarvie's third goal of the game and opened a 15-1 lead on Emery Maine's second goal of the season with 11 minutes remaining.
McGarvie had a team-high four goals for the second straight day, while Katie Cox and Kathleen Miller each had two goals and two assists. in addition to the late goal from Maine, Christine Casaceli, Kristin Schwab, Anne Murray, Ashley Amo, Mary Minshall, Alex Gangler and Katie Lewis-Lamonica also had goals for Princeton.
The Tigers outshot Brown 31-15 and took full advantage of 11 free-position shot opportunities, finishing seven eight-meter shots. McGarvie buried both of her free-position opportunities, while Schwab, Maine, Murray, Casaceli and Minshall all scored on eight-meter attempts.
Kara Kelly and Justine Lupo each had a goal for Brown, which did not score in the first 26:53 of the first half and then went scoreless for a span of 24:02 until its second goal with 9:05 left in the game.
Princeton's two goals allowed were its fewest since defeating Le Moyne 19-1 in the first round of the 2003 NCAA tournament. The Tigers last allowed just two goals in the regular season earlier that season in a 12-2 win over Harvard.
All 28 Princeton players who dressed saw action for the second straight game. Both Kaitlyn Perrelle and Colleen O'Boyle played a half in goal for Princeton, and each had two saves.
Brown goalie Melissa King had 10 saves.
Miller's four points tied her with Amory Rowe '95 for sixth place on Princeton's all-time scoring list with 194 points.
The Tigers play at No. 3 Maryland Wednesday night at 7 p.m., and an internet broadcast of the game will be available at GoPrincetonTigers.com. Princeton will conclude the regular season next Sunday afternoon with a home game against No. 10 Georgetown.

* The 2002 NCAA champion Princeton women's lacrosse team was recognized at halftime of Saturday's game on the fifth anniversary of winning Princeton's second national championship. The 2002 Tigers won their final 19 games and set school records for goals and points on the way to their first of two straight NCAA titles.
* Princeton clinched a winning season for the 10th straight year with Saturday's victory against Brown.
