June 02, 2008 | General
Kellie Gale has been promoted to Associate Director of Athletics for the Princeton Varsity Club, Director of Athletics Gary Walters announced.
"During the last three years, Kellie has worked tirelessly and effectively to support the mission of the PVC," Walters says. "I look forward to working with Kellie as we seek to improve the performance and reach of that organization."
Gale has been a member of the Princeton athletic department since November 2005, when she became Assistant Director of Athletic Relations for the PVC. She became Director of Athletic Relations for the PVC a year ago.
She assumes oversight of the PVC, an organization that offers financial support to Princeton athletics and serves as a liaison between alums and current athletes. Its mission statement states that the PVC implements and supports programs that perpetuate and enhance the performance, values and community of Princeton Athletics and the University. The PVC also supports the notion that athletics are an integral part of the educational mission of the University.
The PVC supports such events as the Senior Athlete Awards Banquet, the Jake McCandless '51 speaker series, coaches' luncheons, game-night receptions, the freshman-sophomore welcome barbeque and a career-night. There is also a PVC mentoring program that brings alums and students together.
Gale is a 2001 graduate of Colgate University, where she was a member of the Varsity Student Athlete Advisory Committee as a women's soccer player. She was also Colgate's NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.
She also holds a master's degree in sport management from UMass.
Prior to coming to Princeton, Gale worked as an intern at Harvard and then at the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation.
