Women's Basketball Begins Three-Game Road Swing at Drexel on Thursday

PRINCETON, N.J. (12/15/09) - The Princeton women's basketball team will begin a three-game road swing on December 17 when it travels to Philadelphia to take on Drexel. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m., at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The game will be webstreamed on the Drexel athletics Web site for a free. Fans can also listen to Princeton's Derek Jones call the action and follow live stats online. Those in the Philadelphia area can tune into WKDU 91.7 FM to listen the game.
Princeton is 7-2 overall after picking up two wins last week against Rider and Lafayette. The team is averaging 72.1 points per game and holding opponents to 55.3 points per game, a +16.8 scoring margin. The Tigers are shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, 37.4 percent from long range, and 70.1 from the line. Freshman Niveen Rasheed leads the team with 16.7 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in steals with 20 and in assists with 22. Sophomore Devona Allgood is also contributing 7.2 rebounds per game and has 12 steals, eight blocks and 81 points. Junior Addie Micir is second on the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game and has the best three-point and free-throw percentages on the team, hitting 27 3's and 12 of 13 free throws. Sophomore Lauren Edwards adds 13.4 points and 3.9 boards per game, as well as 15 steals and 18 assists.
Princeton is 4-1 in its series with Drexel that dates back to 1983. Princeton won the series opener, 65-57 and has won the last three meetings, including a 79-75 victory in the last time out on Dec. 5, 1993. The last Drexel win was in December 1984.
Drexel enters Thursday's game with a 4-3 record with wins over Penn, Richmond, American and St. Joseph's. The team dropped games to PSU, Maryland and La Salle. The Dragons are averaging 61 points per game and have a slim +0.4 scoring margin. The team is a -3.7 in rebounding margin. Drexel shoots 38.6 percent from the floor, 29.9 percent from long range and 83.8 from the line. Gabriela Marginean is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 22.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 13 steals and has missed just four of her 49 free chances. Jasmina Rosseel is second on the team in points averaging 11.1 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game and Kamile Nacickaite is contributing 9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Marisa Crane has a team-high 27 assists and eight steals.
