Tochihara Named Ivy League Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/16/09) - Sophomore goalie Erin Tochihara of the Princeton women's lacrosse team was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday, March 16.
Coming off of a one-goal loss to No. 4 Duke in which she made a career-high 16 saves, Tochihara stopped 13 shots in a 9-7 win over No. 15 Penn State on Saturday, March 14. She made nine stops in the first half alone, including some spectacular stops from close range. Prior to the game, Penn State was scoring over 15 goals per game.
For the season, Tochihara has a 3-1 record, an 8.54 goals against average and a .594 save percentage. She's stopped 41 of 69 shots with three of the team's four opponents being nationally ranked squads.
This is her first league award of the season.
