Three Tigers Earn All-America Honors in Women's Lacrosse

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/29/09) ? Three Princeton women's lacrosse players have been named All-America by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) it was announced by the organization on Thursday, May 28.
For the second straight season, senior midfielder Holly McGarvie earned first-team All-America honors. Senior defender Marie McKenna was named to the second-team for the second consecutive season, and sophomore goalie Erin Tochihara grabbed her first All-America honor with a place on the second team.
The trio were all named first-team all-region, along with senior Kristin Schwab. Senior Katie Cox and sophomore Lizzy Drumm were awarded second-team all-region honors.
McGarvie is the 2009 Ivy League co-Player of the Year and was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection. She finished her career with two Tewaaraton Trophy nominations and four All-Ivy honors, while helping her team to four NCAA Tournament appearances. McGarvie leaves Princeton in the top-10 in the program in points, assists and ground balls in a career.
McKenna was also a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection this year, while earning a place on the Tewaaraton Watch List. McKenna was a four-year starter for the Tigers' defense that allowed 8.78 goals per game average over four years. She closed out her career with 103 ground balls, 65 caused turnovers, 48 draw controls and four points.
Tochihara finished the season with a 14-4 record, starting in all but one game. She led the nation for most of the season in save percentage, and was second in goals against average, finishing third in both categories. She made 152 saves on 287 shots for a .530 save percentage and an 8.41 goals against average. Tochihara was a second-team All-Ivy honoree.
First-team all-regional selection Schwab, was named first-team All-Ivy this season after finishing third on the team in scoring with a team-high 41 goals and four assists for 45 points. She capped off her career with 103 points, 107 ground balls and 102 draw controls.
A second-team All-Ivy selection, Cox started in every game during her career. She finished her career with 39 goals and 39 assists for 78 points, while picking up 101 ground balls, 61 caused turnovers and 53 draw controls.
Drumm was Princeton's second-leading scorer this season with 47 points coming off of 38 goals and nine assists. An honorable mention All-Ivy pick, Drumm currently has 81 career points.
Princeton finished the 2009 season with a 14-4 record and earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
