World Champions! McGarvie and DeJuliis Win Gold

PRAGUE (6/29/09) - The US Women's Lacrosse team defeated Australia 8-7 to win the 2009 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup. This is the Americans sixth World Cup, three of which came with victories over Australia in the title contest.
Senior Holly McGarvie earned a starting nod in the championship game, while assistant coach Michele DeJuliis finished the game with a goal and an assist.
The teams were tied, 3-3, at halftime but the US came out and scored the first three goals of the second half to take a 6-3 lead. With four minutes to play the US held a two-goal lead, 8-6.
At the end of the tournament, McGarvie had four goals and three assists and was second on the team in draw controls with 17 over a span of seven games. DeJuliis collected five goals and four assists.
