Fiorito Shares Final Ivy League Player Of The Week Award
May 02, 2011 | Men's Lacrosse
If, in the face all of the injuries and tight losses that ended the Princeton men's lacrosse season prematurely, the performance of junior goalie Tyler Fiorito gets overlooked, then that would be a shame, because Fiorito has been nothing short of great all year.
And he saved his best performance for Princeton's biggest rival.
Fiorito made 20 saves, several of them spectacular ones on the doorstep, in Princeton's 9-7 loss to Cornell Saturday in Ithaca. The performance earned him Ivy League Co-Player of the Week honors, along with Parker Brown of Brown, who scored the game-winner in overtime against Dartmouth Saturday.
The 20 saves were a career-high for Fiorito, who had 17 against Brown last week. He also had back-to-back 16-save performances prior to the game against Cornell.
Among his 20 saves were six against Cornell's Rob Pannell, the nation's leading scorer, who did have two goals and an assist, though his three points were half his average.
Fiorito had a .615 saver percentage for the season, and he was at .635 for the Ivy season.
