Men's Schedule Notes: Tigers Face League Champs, NCAA Top-20 Teams, Host Ivies
October 15, 2014 | Men's Swimming and Diving
2014-15 SCHEDULE
The Princeton men's swimming and diving team, winners of five of the last six Ivy titles, will serve as hosts of the 2015 Ivy League Championships (Feb. 26-28). The journey to Ivies will be a challenging one, including a trip to the Ohio State Open, home meets with both Navy and N.C. State, and a trip to the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
Princeton will open the season Nov. 7-8 at the Ohio State Open, a two-day meet that will also include Denison College. Ohio State placed third in the Big Ten and 18th at the NCAA Championships last season.
Following the Ivy League opener Nov. 21 against both Penn and Cornell, Princeton will send selected swimmers to the Winter National Championships Dec. 3-6 in Greensboro. The rest of the team will head to Providence for the weekend to compete at the Brown Invitational.
Princeton will test itself mutliple times early in 2015, beginning Jan. 3 with a 2 pm showdown against Patriot League champion Navy. The Midshipmen held on for a 157-143 home win last year in a series that has been filled with several tight finishes.
The Tigers will need a quick recovery, as they host N.C. State Jan. 9 at 5 pm. The Wolfpack is coming off a second-place finish in the ACC and a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Those two meets will serve as a springboard to the annual H-Y-P meet, held Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at Harvard.
Following the regular season finale at Columbia (Feb. 6), Princeton will host the Ivy League Championships during the final weekend in February at DeNunzio Pool.
The NCAA Championships will be held March 26-28 at the University of Iowa.
