NSCAA Scholar All-America Teams
ECAC All-Star TeamsSenior Cameron Porter of the Princeton men's soccer team continues to earn postseason accolades for his 2014 play on the field and for his work in the classroom.
Porter was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Offensive Player of the Year.
The NSCAA recognized select collegiate student-athletes for their dual accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA member.
Porter was one of two forwards to earn first-team Scholar All-America honors, and the only Ivy League to earn a spot on the top team. He is just the second Tiger to earn Scholar All-America honors, joining Darren Spicer who was a second-team selection in 2004, which makes him the first to earn first-team honors.
He will be honored at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on Jan. 17 in Philadelphia.
Additionally, Porter was named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year as voted on by representatives of the ECAC's 89 Division I member institutions. Along with the top offensive honor, he earns a place on the ECAC All-Star First Team.
Porter was a unanimous NSCAA first-team all-region selection and was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year. He was the NCAA leading points scorer with 2.00 points per game and .88 goals per game, and tied for first in total goals with 15 and second in total points with 34. Porter completed his career with 75 points on 31 goals and 13 assists in 67 games. He also earned CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-America honors.
