PRINCETON, N.J. (11/5/15) - Princeton will get a true test this weekend when it faces Quinnipiac, as the travel partners and top-10 teams battle it out in a home-and-home series. Game 1 will be in Hamden, Conn., while the series will conclude at Hobey Baker Rink on Saturday. Both games are at 3 p.m.
EYE ON THE TIGERSThe Tigers are 5-1 overall and ranked No. 10 in both national polls for the second consecutive week. With a 3-1 record in ECAC action, Princeton sits one point out of first in the league standings. Freshman Karlie Lund is the team's leading scorer with seven points on three goals and four assists. Junior Morgan Sly and freshman defender Stephanie Sucharda add four points apiece. Adding to the team's offense are three points from junior Kelsey Koelzer, sophomore Kiersten Falck and freshman Kimiko Marinacci. Both senior Kimberly Newell and sophomore Alysia DaSilva have seen action in net. Newell is 4-0 with a .932 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average. DaSilva is 1-1 with a .957 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA.
PRINCETON/QUINNIPIAC SERIES
Quinnipiac holds a two-game edge in the series, 12-10-3. The Bobcats have won the last five meetings, with the Tigers last win coming in January 2011.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac is just two spots ahead of Princeton in the national poll, coming in at No. 8 with a 6-1-2 record. Princeton defeated all three teams that Quinnipiac has blemishes with (Yale, Colgate and Mercyhurst). Under new head coach Cassandra Turner, the Bobcats are 2-1-1 in the ECAC. Sophomore Taylar Cianfarano has scored a team-high eight goals and adds six assists for 14 points. Freshman Melissa Samoskevich has a team-leading 10 assists and adds three goals and for 13 points. Junior Emma Woods chips in 10 points. Junior Sydney Rossman is the lone netminder for Quinnipiac. She has a .909 save percentage and a 1.53 GAA.
