March 09, 2015 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in as many weeks, Blake Dietrick of the No. 13 Princeton University women's basketball team has been named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week after helping the Tigers clinch their fifth conference title in six seasons.
Averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, Dietrick earned her seventh Ivy POTW award of the year, becoming just the third player in league history to accomplish the feat.
Shooting 64.7 percent (11-17) from the floor and 66.7 percent (4-6) from three, Dietrick picked up her 11th career Ivy POTW honor, tying Harvard's Hana Peljto for the fourth-most in conference history. Dietrick currently has the second-most Ivy POTW laurels in program history, second only to Niveen Rasheed (14).
Against Cornell, Dietrick finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Hitting all three of her triples, Dietrick also collected six assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes. The following evening at Columbia, Dietrick netted 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, helping Princeton lock up the outright league title.
Currently averaging career highs in several statistical categories, Dietrick tops the conference in assists per game with 5.0 per contest. Third in the league in three-point shooting percentage (43.3), Dietrick is tied for fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6) and scoring (15.0), and fifth in field goal percentage (49.7).
Off to the best start in conference history – men's or women's – Princeton (29-0) surpassed the 1970-71 Penn men's team (28-0) with a win over Columbia last Saturday. The Tigers' No. 13 ranking in the Associated Press Top-25 is the highest-ever for an Ivy League program.
