McDonald & Ratcliffe Named Capital One Academic All-District

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/22/15) - Senior Matt McDonald and junior Julia Ratcliffe have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field Team it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Friday, May 22.
This is the second consecutive season McDonald has been named Academic All-District. A two-time NCAA cross country championship participant, McDonald will compete at the NCAA Regionals in the 10k next weekend, after qualifying with a 29:38.76. A two-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-region selection, McDonald has also been named All-Ivy League three times in cross country and was named Academic All-Ivy this fall. He won the Ivy League 10k title at the 2015 outdoor Heps and was the runner-up in the 5k at indoor Heps. The 2014 IC4A 10k champion, McDonald is majoring in chemical and biological engineering.
Ratcliffe, the 2014 NCAA hammer throw champion also captured the 2014 USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. A two-time USTFCCC All-Academic and Academic All-Ivy League selection, Ratcliffe was a Bowerman Trophy semifinalist and first-team All-America in 2014. Ratcliffe is the New Zealand, Ivy League and Princeton record holder in the hammer throw. She earned second-team All-America honors as a freshman when she placed 11th at the NCAA championship. A four-time Ivy League champion, as well as a two-time Ivy League runner-up in the weight throw. Ratcliffe is an economics major.
The pair move on to the national ballot with the Academic All-America being announced in mid-June.
