After Huge Road Win, Jessie Harris Earns Ivy League/Princeton Athlete Of The Week Honors
October 02, 2017 | General, Women's Volleyball
After leading the Princeton women's volleyball team to a perfect Ivy League road weekend, including the team's first win at Yale since 2007, All-Ivy setter Jessie Harris earned the first Ivy League Player of the Week honor of her career. She was also named the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.
Harris averaged more than 11.7 assists per set in the wins at Brown and Yale, and she paced an offense that hit .292 for the weekend. She also led the defense, recording 3.9 digs per set, second most on the team. She was even one of the team's most efficient hitters, killing seven balls on only 13 swings for a .538 percentage.
"Jessie continues to guide the offense well and set up our attackers for success," had coach Sabrina King said. "Her physicality makes her a threat wherever she is on the court, and her leadership skills have really blossomed this season. She works hard every single day and her dedication shows with her dynamic play."
Harris and the women's volleyball team return to Dillon Gym this weekend to take on Dartmouth (Friday, 7) and Harvard (Saturday, 5). Both matches will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network.
