HEADWAY
This weekends' games are in conjunction with the Headway Foundation's New Tough Campaign, that encourages a safer sports culture surrounding concussions. With full participation of all 24 ECAC teams, this weekend demonstrates a league-wide commitment to player welfare safety and sets a positive example for other leagues, teams and athletes of all ages. Both teams have placed a Headway Foundation sticker on the back left side of their helmets in support of this cause. The ECAC is New Tough. EYE ON THE TIGERS
No. 9 Princeton looks to keep things rolling as the bring an 11-game unbeaten streak into the weekend. The Tigers most recently defeated No. 10 Quinnipiac via a 3-0 blanking in Hamden on Tuesday, in the team's first game back from two-week exam break. Princeton is 14-6-3 overall and are holding down fourth place in the league standings with a 10-4-2 record and outscored it last two opponents, both of which were ranked in the top-10 by a seveng-goal margin (8-1). Sophomore Karlie Lund leads the team with 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points, ranking her fifth in the nation in points per game. Senior Molly Contini has 22 points, while freshman Carly Bullock has 21. Seniors Cassidy Tucker and Kelsey Koelzer chip in 20 points apiece, while four others are also in double figures in this well-balanced potent offense that ranks fifth in the country with 3.39 goals per game. Freshman Steph Neatby has is 8-1-1 as the starting goalie and has been named the ECAC Goalie of the Month the last two months. She sports the nation's second best save percentage and goals against average at .955 and 1.27.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is 9-11-3 overall and riding a four-game win streak. The team most recently swept Brown by 2-1 and 4-2 scores. With a 7-8-1 ECAC record, the Bulldogs are currently seventh in the standings. Senior Krista Yip-Chuck and junior Eden Murray are both tied atop the scoring column with 25 points apiece. Senior Phoebe Staenza has net the most goal, 13, and adds nine assists for 22 points. Senior Taylor Marchin follows up with 18 points from the blue line. THe offense averages 2.61 goals per game (13th) and allow 2.43 gpg (19th). Freshman Tera Hofmann has made 15 starts in 23 games and has a .915 save percentage and a 2.55 GAA. Yale's power play has its strengths, ranking ninth at 17.2 percent (16/93). As the sixth most penalized team in the nation, the Bulldogs have killed off 85.7 percent of its penalties.
THE PRINCETON/YALE SERIES
The Tigers lead the all-time series 60-14-3 since the teams first met in 1979. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in New Haven in October, during the ECAC opening weekend. Last season Princeton swept Yale, winning 4-3 in New Haven and 5-1 at home, following three consecutive seasons of the teams splitting the series.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown enters the weekend with a 5-18 overall record under its new head coach Bob Kenneally. The team is 3-13 in the league to sit 10th in the standings. Junior Sam Donovan leads an offense that scores 1.87 goals per game. She has 15 points on eight goals and seven assists. Sophomore Bridget Carey and freshman Sena Hanson add 11 each, while sophomore defender Leah Olson has 10 points. Senior Monica Elvin has made 16 starts in goal and has a .906 save percentage and a 3.56 GAA. As a team Brown allows 4.17 goals per game, the most in the nation. Brown averages more than 11 penalty minutes per game and has struggled to kill them off going 80 for 114, while the power play is 8 for 99.
THE PRINCETON/BROWN SERIES
Princeton owns a 45-29-2 record in the all-time series with Brown that dates back to the 1979-80 season. The Tigers have won the last 13 meetings, including a 4-0 win in the league opener on Oct. 28 in Providence. The Bears last win in the series was on Feb. 19, 2010 a 4-3 win.
