Princeton Now Third In Directors' Cup Standings
December 13, 2018 | General
CURRENT LEARFIELD DIRECTORS' CUP DIVISION I STANDINGS
The extraordinary fall athletic season at Princeton continues to be rewarded on a national scale in an incredibly impressive way.
Princeton, with six teams having competed in NCAA championship competition, is now third in Division I in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, which determine the best overall athletic programs using a formula based on postseason participation and success. Princeton has been the highest finishing Ivy League school in 22 of the 25 years the Cup has been awarded and was the only non-Power Five Conference school in the top 40 last year.
Princeton has received points from the fall in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, field hockey and men's water polo.
The current top 10 features perennial Cup winner Stanford in first place, along with six ACC schools, two Big Ten schools and Princeton. The only other FCS schools in the top 30 are Georgetown (18th, and also a member of the Big East) and Furman (30th), and no other Ivy school is in the top 50.
There will be two other updates to the standings before all of the fall points are totaled.
