Princeton Earns Program-Record Four All-American Honors
April 17, 2020 | Wrestling
An EIWA- and Ivy-best four wrestlers, a program-record total, have earned first-team All-American honors, the National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced.
Patrick Glory (125), Matthew Kolodzik (149), Quincy Monday (157) and Patrick Brucki (197) were recognized, with Kolodzik becoming the program's first four-time All-American honoree.
The four All-American honorees are Princeton's most in a season in program history, surpassing last year's three. Ten of Princeton's 23 all-time All-American selections have come in the last five seasons.
Glory, a sophomore, earned All-American honors for the second straight year, while fellow sophomore Monday is a first-time honoree and junior Brucki followed up his 2019 honor with another this year.
All-American is typically decided by finishing in the top eight at the NCAA Championships. With the event's cancellation due to COVID-19, the NWCA chose eight first-team honorees at each weight, four second-teamers and four honorable mentions based on season performance.
In an undefeated season that included his second consecutive EIWA title, Glory was named the Ivy League Wrestler of the Year, Princeton's first since 1986, and was a top-eight Hodge Trophy finalist, Princeton's first in the history of the award.
Kolodzik won an EIWA title for the third time, earning first-team All-Ivy honors, while Monday was the EIWA runner-up and a first-team All-Ivy pick, and Brucki took third at EIWAs and was a second-team All-Ivy honoree.
