2021-22 Princeton Athletics External Relations Internship Application
Princeton University Athletics External Relations offers a unique opportunity for students to work within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This program will provide students with an invaluable experience that will benefit the pursuit of a career in almost any field, and especially those who want to pursue a career in athletics. The Princeton University Athletic Department regards the Princeton Athletics External Relations Internship program as a vital component in the success of the overall department. The efforts and contributions of the interns are heavily depended upon. It is essential that each intern recognize the importance of a strong commitment to Princeton Athletics and the internship program. In return for such dedication, the Princeton University Department of Athletics promises you one of the best hands-on internship experiences available.Â
The Intercollegiate Athletics Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the 2021-22 school year. If you are a college student with initiative, dedication, a strong work ethic, and a sincere interest in college athletics, then you are encouraged to submit an application. Students who are enrolled in a degree program that requires an outside internship are highly encouraged to apply. The department can fulfill your internship hour requirements. Upon finishing your required hours, hourly compensation may be available in some departments. Â
Note: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some responsibilities will be based virtually pending fall announcements by the Ivy League Athletic Conference. Â

Athletic Communications Internship
The Office of Athletic Communications provides public relations, social media and statistical assistance to Princeton’s 37 varsity programs. Interns will possess strong skills in writing feature stories, photography, graphic design, video editing, statistics analysis and managing social media accounts for brands.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observe and assist with photo archiving and historical archivingÂ
Assist full-time staff members with various duties surrounds home sport events and possible selected road eventsÂ
Observing and assisting with statistics crews at various events
Assisting with coordinating media interviews at various eventsÂ
Observing and assisting with various team social media accountsÂ
Assisting with content creation brainstorming and possible content seriesÂ
Other duties as assignedÂ

REQUIREMENTS:
The Princeton Athletic Communications Office interns are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism in all operative functions. Interns are required to work assigned sporting events hosted at Princeton University. Strong candidates will have the ability to multitask efficiently, pay close attention to detail and remain organized. Must be enrolled in an accredited undegraded or graduate program. Must be eligible to earn college credit. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Any candidate offered the position is required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by law.

Unpaid internship with possible opportunity for paid post-season events. Adobe creative suite experience preferred, but not required. Fall internship will run from August 13th until mid-December, or until required program hours are exhausted. Winter internship will run early January to late May. Weekly commitment will range from 20-25 hours per week with some weeks being busier than usual.Â
Marketing and Promotions Internship
The Princeton Marketing and Promotions interns are the face of Princeton Athletics. They greet fans and help them enjoy the entire experience of Tiger game days. Thus, professional and enthusiastic attitudes are necessary qualities interns must possess. The marketing and promotions internship is a unique and exciting way to gain hands-on marketing experience through participation at Princeton sporting events. These events include, but are not limited to: Princeton Football, Princeton Men’s basketball, Princeton Women’s Basketball, Princeton Men’s Hockey, Princeton Men’s Lacrosse and various other non-ticketed sports as well as postseason contests such as Ivy League Tournaments and NCAA events.Â

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observe and assist with pre-event setup and post-event breakdown
Observe and assist with on-field or on-court presentations and sponsorship elements
Assist with management of half-time and time-out contestants and performers
Distribution of marketing collateral and promotional items to fans
Assist with the development sport-specific promotional plans
Distribute sports schedules and posters to community businesses and campus partners
Observe and assist with promotion of various events via social media, email and other outletsÂ
Assist with department kids club marketingÂ
Assist with administrative work on non-event days
Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
Strong candidates will have the ability to multitask efficiently, pay close attention to detail and remain organized. A great work ethic, excellent interpersonal, customer service and directional skills are essential. Manual labor (light to semi heavy lifting) may be required. Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Must be eligible to earn college credit. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Any candidate offered the position is required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by law.

Multimedia & Broadcasting Internship
The Multimedia & Broadcasting Office supports Princeton’s 37 varsity sports in a wide array of visual mediums, primarily within the Ivy League on ESPN and in-venue video board shows. Additionally, the office works to create video content for various teams, and departmental initiatives. Interns would work closely with staff members to aid with the technical side streaming of various events, assist with content creation, and help story-tell through various multimedia platforms.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist full-time staff members with various duties surrounding live streaming of sporting events including broadcast pre-production and game day control room and in-venue operations
Observing and assisting with operating technical equipment to produce content and eventsÂ
Assisting with video creation including planning, execution, post-production and archiving
Conceptualize and create content across digital platforms, i.e. social media
Other duties as assignedÂ
NOTES:Â
Unpaid internship with possible opportunity for paid post-season events. Adobe Premiere experience required, Adobe After Effects experienced preferred and basic knowledge of video equipment required. Fall internship will run from August 13th until mid-December, or until required program hours are exhausted. Winter internship will run early January to late May. Weekly commitment will range from 5-20 hours per week with some weeks being busier than usual.
Ticket Office Internship
The Ticket Office staff are the first people fans interact with on game day and are the initial connection they make. Interns must portray a professional and enthusiastic attitude towards all customers. Ticket Office interns will gain knowledge in the areas of customer relations, ticket priority, event management, intern-office dynamics, donor relations, and NCAA compliance as it relates to player and recruit admissions. The Ticket Office internship is a unique and exciting way to gain hands-on experience through participation at Tiger events. These events include, but are not limited to: football, men's and women's basketball, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse and other post season contests.

Assist with processing of single game and season tickets requests prior to event
Aid in handling and printing of single game tickets prior to events
Assist with customer service representative at assigned home events
Observe and assist with coordination and execution of player and recruit admission gates at assigned home eventsÂ
Assist with use of the AudienceView Ticketing System for all transactionsÂ
Assist with game day management and execution of group and birthday party experiencesÂ
Observe and learn sales training and calls to Princeton supportersÂ
Other duties as assigned
