Alex Morss '13, a key member of the Tigers' last women's lightweight Eastern Sprints championship eight, returned to Princeton last year to rejoin a program that she experienced so much undergraduate success with, and the results didn't change much. In her first season as assistant coach, Morss helped lead Princeton to medals at both the Eastern Sprints and the IRA national championships.
Following her 2013 graduation, Morss competed in the lightweight double at the Under-23 world championships. She then spent her first year training with the High Performance Rowing team at Vesper Boat Club in both Philadelphia and at SoCal Scullers in California, with the aim of making the Senior National Team, a goal that was derailed by injury.
Morss then worked for a couple years in the product development department at a sports nutrition start up in Boston. In 2017, she was a volunteer assistant rowing coach at MIT, and she also helped coach Nobles and Greenough. Over the summer Morss coached the junior program at Cambridge Boat Club, and she has also been competing in several running races and triathlons.
Morss was a key member of the Princeton lightweight program from 2010-2013, which included Princeton's Eastern Sprints gold medal in 2011. That Tiger boat pushed Stanford in one of the most dramatic IRA finals in recent memory, though it ultimately settled for silver by less than .7 of a second.
