Princeton Up To No. 11 In Coaches' Poll; No. 9 In RPI

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton gained one position in the Penn Montco/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Coaches' Poll and the NCAA RPI rankings today. The Tigers are situated No. 11 in the coaches' poll and No. 9 in the RPI.

The Tigers enjoyed a 6-0 victory over Columbia last Friday on the road. Princeton scored three times in each half including two tallies from senior Cat Caro. The senior captain now has 16 points this season, surpassing her total from 2015. On Sunday, trailing 1-0 to then No. 2 Duke, sophomore Sophia Tornetta blasted a shot into the back of the cag, but Duke came out with the victory on a penalty stroke goal in overtime.

Connecticut remains the top team in the coaches' poll with 18 first-place votes and 759 voting points, seven in front of No. 2 Syracuse. North Carolina, Duke and Penn State round out the top five. Maryland, Louisville, Delaware, Northwestern and Virginia are the other teams in front of Princeton. The RPI rankings matches the top five with the coaches' poll with Duke leading the way, followed by Syracuse, Connecticut, North Carolina and Penn State. Harvard has the second highest RPI in the Ivy League at No. 13.

Princeton will welcome Brown to Bedford Field on Saturday (12 p.m.) before the final non-conference matchup of the season vs. Towson on Sunday (1 p.m.) Both games can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network.
