Caro and von Gierke Register Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Cat Caro was selected as the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week and the Coach USA Princeton Athlete of the Week while freshman Carlotta von Gierke was picked as the conference's Rookie of the Week for their performances against Brown and Towson last weekend.
It's the fourth time in her career that Caro has been honored with a weekly conference accolade. Caro scored a Player of the Week award in 2014 and two Rookie of the Week selections in 2013. This is von Gierke's first career commendation.
In Princeton's 5-1 win over Brown on Saturday , Caro got the scoring started less than 90 seconds into the contest. After scoring another goal in the 20th minute, the senior finished off her first career hat trick with four minutes remaining. Also in the game, von Gierke recorded an assist in the win.
The Tigers nabbed an 8-0 victory over Towson on Sunday in which Caro snagged her second consecutive hat trick. She finished the two games with 12 points and now has a new career high with 28 points this season. During the contest, von Gierke posted a goal and assist. The freshman is tied for second in the Ivy League with eight assists.
Princeton sits at 9-5 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Tigers will welcome the only other undefeated team in the Ivy, Harvard (8-4, 4-0), to Bedford on Saturday (12 p.m.). The game can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network.
