Five Keys for Kansas State - (Story)
Â
Here's a review of five keys from the Kansas State contest.
Â
Vanessa Smith – The senior captain scored three points, grabbed four rebounds and snagged a steal on Sunday at Kansas State. It was the fifth straight game that Smith had at least four rebounds. Her 5.3 boards per game would be a career-high.
Â
Tia Weledji – In a return to her home state, Weledji registered four points, three rebounds and three assists. The junior has had three or more assists in three of her last five games. For the season, she maintains a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Â
Three-Point Defense – Princeton held Kansas State to 6-of-22 from beyond the arc on Sunday. In the first half, the Tigers allowed just two three-pointers as they took a 25-22 advantage into halftime. Opponents have shot over 30.0 percent from long distance twice this year.
Â
Breanna Lewis – The All-Big 12 First Team player had her second lowest scoring output of the season with eight points vs. Princeton. The senior had six field goal attempts and went 2-of-8 from the free throw line. Lewis did manage 11 rebounds in the win.
Â
Defense, Defense, Defense – Kansas State's defense shined in the second half as Princeton shot 17.8 percent over the third and fourth quarters. The Tigers were outscored 38-17 during that stretch.
