Athletic Accomplishments:
A junior on the tennis team, she won her first 11 matches of the fall season to go 11-1 in doubles and was 6-5 in singles.
Off the Field:
Sara has been involved in a lot of community service programs. She volunteered at a children's shelter and was involved with an inner city youth ministry in Kansas City. Every class of seniors from her high school went on a mission trip, and her class decided to go to Trinidad and Tobago. While in Trinidad, she went to rural villages to run vacation bible school every day they were there. This involved playing games, teaching, and mentoring 3-15-year-old kids. She says that it was amazing to see the joy these villagers possessed in the midst of deep poverty. She also had the amazing opportunity to visit an orphanage, drug addict facility and elderly home. They created a video for the drug addict facility and gathered in small discussion groups to talk about the intersection of faith and healing.
Sara on Sara:
"The experiences I had in Trinidad were very eye-opening and allowed me to see the needs that the world has. Although it is difficult to do at Princeton, I try to harness a spirit of service in my daily life. I want to approach situations by asking what I can do to help others. This has been reflected most deeply in my commitment to PFA [Princeton Faith and Action] and Athletes in Action- I find that these two groups help me navigate how faith necessitates a call to service and recognition of the world outside of Princeton."
