Tarakchian's 19th Career Double-Double Leads Princeton over Harvard, 79-69

PRINCETON – The Princeton women's basketball team (22-4, 11-1 Ivy) used a 14-0 run to begin the fourth quarter to run by the Harvard Crimson (14-12, 9-4 Ivy), 79-69 at Jadwin Gymnasium on Friday evening. It's the team's 24th straight win at home.
Senior Annie Tarakchian recorded her second consecutive and 19th career double-double, scoring a career-high 24 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Michelle Miller added her seventh 20+ point outing of the season with 20 points along with six assists, four rebounds, a steal and block. Senior Alex Wheatley missed just one shot in six attempts, collecting 12 points in the win.
After allowing the first five points of the contest, Harvard went on a 14-2 sprint to take a seven-point lead (14-7) at the 4:44 mark. Princeton quickly responded with 13 of the next 15 points, taking a 20-16 advantage after the first quarter. Tarakchian scored 11 of her 24 points in the first stanza to help the Tigers to their lead. The Tigers would keep the Crimson at bay in the second quarter, taking a six-point lead (36-30) into halftime.
Trailing by 10 (42-32) in the third frame, Harvard got within three on three separate occasions, but Princeton took a 57-51 advantage into the final stanza. Head coach Courtney Banghart's team held Harvard scoreless over the first 5:50 of the fourth period, tallying 14 points over that span, giving itself a 20-point cushion over the Crimson. Harvard would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

- Annie Tarakchian is averaging 13.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals over her last six contests. The senior has secured at least 10 rebounds in 11 games this season. She has 721 career rebounds, three shy of sixth place on the all-time list.
- With her 20 points, Michelle Miller now has 1,292 career points, good for the ninth most in program history.
- Fresh off her third career Ivy League Player of the Week award, Alex Wheatley dropped 12 points, her fifth straight game with at least 10 points.
- The Tigers had 19 assists on 29 made shots, giving them nine consecutive contests with at least 15 assists.
- Tonight's win improved the senior class's career record to 96-21 (.820) overall and 49-5 (.907) in the Ivy League. The seniors on the team, Amanda Berntsen, Annie Tarakchian, Michelle Miller, Alex Wheatley and Taylor Williams, will be honored before tomorrow's game vs. Dartmouth.
