Ashleigh Johnson Selected as AAU Sullivan Award Semifinalist

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ashleigh Johnson, a senior-in-waiting, for the Princeton women's water polo team has been named a semi-finalist for the AAU Sullivan Award, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) has announced today. People can vote for Ashleigh on http://www.aausullivan.org/vote
The AAU Sullivan Award has been given out since 1930 to the most outstanding amateur athletes in the United States. The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest- non-profit volunteer sports organizations in the country. As a multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports programs.
Earlier this summer, Johnson was named the 2015 WaterPoloWorld Female Player of the Year after helping the senior women's water polo team win the FINA World Championship. She was named the championship match MVP and tournament's top goalkeeper. In seven games for Team USA at the World Championship, Johnson racked up 66 saves. Prior to the FINA World Championships, Johnson helped the United States to gold medals at the Pan Am Games, the Kushan Cup, and the FINA World League Super Final.
The reigning CWPA Player of the Year, Johnson has posted an 81-13 overall mark, turning away 1,062 of the 1,533 shots she has faced en route to a 0.693 save percentage. Putting together three of the highest single-season save totals in program history, Johnson is already the Tigers' career leader with 1,062 stops.
