Aug. 15: Donn Cabral '12 Advances to Steeple Final with Third Fastest Time; Johnson, Team USA Advance Donn Cabral '12 ran the third fastest time overall the qualifying round of the men's steeplechase to advance to his second consecutive Olympic final. Cabral, along with American Evan Jaeger are the first U.S. men to make back-to-back Olympic steeplechase finals since Henry Marsch did so in 1984 and 1988. Cabral clocked 8:21.96 to finish third in heat 3 to autoadvance to the finals. Meanwhile, Ashleigh Johnson '17 and the USA Water Polo team defeated Brazil 13-3 to reach the semifinal. RECAP |

Aug. 16: Coach Robby Andrews Moves on the 1500 Semifinal; Canada Soccer to Play for Bronze Princeton assistant coach Robby Andrews advanced to the semifinals of the men's 1500. Andrews, who is competing in his first Olympics, was third in heat 2 at 8:46.97. In true Robby Andrews racing style, he stayed patient and steady in the middle of the pack. In ninth place at the bell, Andrews made his move to the outside and ticked off runners one-by-one and at the final turn he was in third place. Andrews headed across the line in third, behind Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi at 3:46.82 and Kenya's Elijah Motonei Manangoi at 3:46.83. Later in the day, Canada's women's soccer team, including Diana Matheson '08, fell to Germany 2-0 in a semifinal and will face Brazil Friday for bronze. RECAP |

Aug. 17: Cabral Officially Eighth in Wild Steeplechase Final Donn Cabral '12 finished eighth in his second consecutive Olympic steeplechase final, as he ran 8:25.81. His time was .10 seconds faster than his 2012 time in London when he finished eighth at 8:25.81. His finish was updated twice on Wednesday afternoon as two runners were later disqualified, the most stunning of all was Kenya's Ezekiel Kemboi being stripped of the bronze as it was found that he ran "inside the curve of the water jump at least once." The bronze has now been awarded to France's Mahiedine Mekhissi. RECAP |

Aug. 18: Frederick Bows Out at 1.89 in High Jump; Heartbreak for Andrews in 1500 Princeton women's track & field assistant coach Priscilla Frederick competing in the qualifying round of the women's high jump this morning. As the lone female representative from Antigua & Barbuda, Frederick did not advance to the final after closing out with a clearance of 1.89m (6-2.50) to finish 28th overall. During the evening session, at the track Princeton men's track & field assistant coach Robby Andrews had a heartbreaking result as he was disqualified in semifinal 2 after originally qualifying for the final as one of the top five finishers. Andrews stepped outside the track on his sprint to the finish. RECAP
The second and third medals of the 2016 Olympic Games for Princeton athletes came Friday when Diana Matheson '08 and the Canadian women's soccer team defeated Brazil 2-1 to win bronze and Ashleigh Johnson '17 and the U.S. women's water polo team beat Italy 12-5 to win gold. RECAP |
