Women's Hoops in Australia, Day 5: Rainforest Station Wildlife Park
August 28, 2016 | Women's Basketball
The Princeton women's basketball team left Sydney and flew to Cairns on Sunday. Following the flight, the Tigers experienced the Rainforest Station Wildlife Park before a practice to wrap up the day. Monday will feature a trip to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and a contest vs. the Cairns Dolphins.

Hello mates!
Â
Today was day five for the Tigers down under! We started off our day missing out on the hotel breakfast, which had consistently been straight fire. The team had to leave early for the airport to start a new adventure in Cairns. The beautiful city of Sydney will be missed, but I'm excited to explore another amazing part of Australia.
Â
We then made our way to the airport for a two and half hour flight. Stepping off the plane, the team was welcomed by the warm weather and majestic mountains of Cairns. As we were heading to visit the Rainforest Station Wildlife Park, some of the first things that the bus driver told us about were the dangerous species found here which included crocodiles, snakes (my roommate Vanessa is currently checking under the bed for them), jellyfish, and more. Have no fear - we are all safe and there are no snakes under the bed.
Â
After arriving, we sat down for lunch and went on a walk throughout the park where we were able to see and learn about the animals in their exhibits. Shout-out to our guide for all the cool facts and information. After practicing "Crikey a wild dingo!" in our Australian accents for the past couple of days, we were finally able to say it and actually mean it (except for the fact that they weren't wild)! I wouldn't mind one as a pet because they're so cute. We also got to feed and pet kangaroos! Our team got really lucky and we were able to witness a baby koala show its face to the world for the first time. It was pretty special :)
Â
We then headed to the hotel and got ready for practice. It's really awesome having the opportunity for our team to get better together in another country. The night ended with dinner, gelato, and the best company. I'm so grateful for the time we've spent together here so far and I'm excited for the time we still have left!
