Field Hockey Sits No. 13 in Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton field hockey team sits at No. 13 in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Coaches' Poll released today.
The Tigers are 3-2 after falling, 2-0, to then No. 14 Virginia on Friday. Junior Ryan McCarthy took nine shots in the game, but Princeton couldn't solve the UVA's goalie Lucas Carrera as she came up with 14 saves. The Tigers have two wins this season over top-20 teams. Princeton dropped Albany, 3-2, on Sept. 9 and Delaware, 4-2, on Sept. 11.
Syracuse remains on top of the poll with 834 voting points and 25 first place votes. Duke remains No. 2, followed by Connecticut, Penn State and North Carolina. Tonight's opponent for Princeton, Maryland, is No. 6 while Louisville, Michigan, Boston College and Boston University round out the top-10.
Princeton is 2-1 during a stretch of four consecutive contests vs.nationally ranked teams including tonight's matchup vs. No. 6 Maryland. Other top opponents include a trip to No. 4 Penn State on Oct. 2 and a home date with No. 2 Duke on Oct. 9.
