McCarthy Named Ivy League Player of the Week
September 05, 2016 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. – After a five-point weekend, junior Ryan McCarthy was selected as the Ivy League Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
It's McCarthy's second Player of the Week award. She was honored last season after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime vs. Penn to clinch the outright Ivy League title.
The junior scored the Tigers' only goal with 1:27 to go in the team's tough 2-1 loss to No. 1 North Carolina on Friday. McCarthy also posted a goal and an assist while also leading Princeton in shots in the Tigers' 5-2 win over Bucknell on Sunday. For her career, the striker has 14 goals and 35 points.
Princeton begins a stretch of four straight contests vs. nationally ranked teams with a battle vs. No. 9 Albany next Friday (Sept. 9) at Bedford Field (4 p.m.).
