Princeton Field Hockey Picked No. 16 in National Coaches' Poll

NFHCA Coaches' Poll
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton field hockey team dropped one spot to No. 16 in the latest Penn Montco/NFHCA's Division Coaches' Poll today.
With 25 first place votes, the reigning nation champion, Syracuse, moved to the No. 1 spot. Duke, who comes to Bedford Field on Oct. 9, is No. 2, followed by North Carolina, Connecticut and Penn State. Princeton will travel to Penn State on Oct. 2.
Michigan, Maryland, Louisville, Wake Forest and Delaware are also in the coaches' poll top ten. Delaware (Sept. 11) and Maryland (Sept. 20) are two teams that will travel to Bedford Field this season. Another Tigers' opponent, Virginia, is 11th in the poll, followed by Albany, Boston University, Stanford and Old Dominion. Princeton is ahead of Northwestern, Boston College, Iowa and Maine to round out the top 20.
The No. 16 Tigers are 1-1 on the season after losing to then No. 1 North Carolina, 2-1, and defeating Bucknell, 5-2. With a five-point weekend, junior Ryan McCarthy was named as the Ivy League Player of the Week. Head coach Carla Tagliente's team will battle two top-20 teams in Albany Friday (4 p.m.) and Delaware on Sunday (1 p.m.) at Bedford Field.
