Alarie Nabs Her Third Straight Double-Double As Princeton Takes Down Davidson, 63-57

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Bella Alarie recorded her third straight double-double and the 11th of her career as the Princeton Tigers (3-1) picked up a 63-57 victory over the Davidson Wildcats (3-3) at Belk Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Alarie registered a game-high 21 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, along with three blocks and two assists. It's her second 20-point and 10-rebound performance of the season. Abby Meyers dropped in 13 points off the bench, while Carlie Littlefield had 11 points, four steals, three rebounds and a block in the win.
Princeton jumped all over Davidson to open the game with the first eight points. Back-to-back treys from Littlefield pushed the Tigers' lead to 12 (14-2) at the 4:26 mark of the quarter. Davidson crawled back into the game with the last six points, setting the score at 14-8 after 10 minutes of action.
The second quarter started much like the first as Princeton rolled off nine straight to take its largest lead of the game (23-8) with eight minutes remaining. Alarie and Gabrielle Rush combined for all of the Tigers' points during that stretch.
Davidson got within four, 27-23, as the clock read 2:11, but 7-of-9 from the Tigers to end the quarter put them in front, 34-25, at the half. Alarie had 10 points, six boards and two of her blocks in the first 20 minutes.
The Wildcats ran out with 10 consecutive points to begin the second half, taking a 35-34 lead with 7:05 to go in the third stanza. The home squad extend its lead to three, but a trey from Meyers quickly nodded the game at 39-all as the clock ticked under four minutes. The two teams exchanged leads before the Wildcats scored 7-of-10 to complete the quarter to tie the score at 48-all after three.
Alarie snagged the first eight points of the final stanza for Princeton as the Tigers ran out to a 58-50 advantage half way through. Davidson made one more push, going on a 7-2 run, before an impressive layup by Meyers with 17 seconds to go put the game out of the reach.
Leslie Robinson had 10 rebounds and six assists for Princeton while Justine Lyon scored 19 points in the loss for Davidson.
Princeton heads home to welcome to Villanova on Wednesday (5:30 p.m.) and Delaware on Saturday (5:00 p.m.) to Jadwin Gym. Both games will be streamed on the Ivy League Network while the game vs. Delaware can also be seen on television on NBC Sports Philadelphia +.
