Alarie Scores Her 7th Ivy Rookie of the Week Honor
February 13, 2017 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the seventh time this season and second straight week, Bella Alarie was honored as the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week for her performance vs. Cornell and Columbia last weekend.
Â
Her seven Rookie of the Week accolades are second in Princeton history behind Niveen Rasheed's nine awards in 2010. Harvard's Katie Benzan was also picked as the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week with Alarie.
Â
Alarie was lights out against Cornell on Friday as she went 8-of-11 from the floor, registering 21 points. She added five rebounds, three steals and a block as the Tigers rallied for a 58-54 victory. It was her fourth 20+ point outing of the season.
Â
Against Columbia, the freshman again made an impact on the defensive end as the Tigers held the Ivy League's leading scorer, Camille Zimmerman, to five points in the first half. Alarie had four blocks in the game. She also contributed 11 points, two rebounds and two assists. The Bethesda, Md., native has scored in double figures in eight straight games and has 22 swats during that stretch.
Â
Princeton sits at 11-9 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League while Columbia dropped to 12-9 this season and 2-6 in the conference. Tip-off for the Yale game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be featured on the Ivy League Digital Network and ESPN3.
