Divers Scribbick, Young Qualify For NCAA Championships
March 06, 2018 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
Freshmen divers Sine Scribbick and Colten Young made sure that Princeton would be represented at both the 2018 Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships later this month. The young duo took care of business Tuesday afternoon, posting top-5 finishes on the 3-meter board at the Zone A Diving Championships.
Scribbick, who placed seventh in the 3-meter final at the Ivy League Championships, raised her level in the Zone final, scoring 578.20 points to place fifth overall. She was the highest-ranking freshman in the event, and one of only two in the Top 10.
Young gave a hint of what was to come during a brilliant showing in the 3-meter final at the Ivy Championships, which were held in DeNunzio Pool. He scored 392.50 points, the seventh-most in the history of the event at Ivies, and the second-most ever by a freshman at the Ivy League Championships. Young was strong again in the Zone A Championships, as his score of 652.85 points was the fourth-best in the field, good enough for a trip to the NCAAs. He was also one of two freshmen in the Top 10; the other was Columbia's Jonathan Suckow, the only freshman in Ivy history to ever score more than Young did in the 3M final.
The rest of the Princeton divers will have one more opportunity to qualify for NCAAs on Wednesday, weather permitting, in the platform diving final.
