Kelly is Runner-Up in Hammer Throw on Day 1 of Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas (4/13/18) - Junior Adam Kelly was the runner-up in the hammer throw after Day 1 of the Texas Invitational. Princeton is in sixth place in the team standings with 18 points.
Kelly threw to 68.48 (224-8) on his fifth attempt to finish behind familiar foe Joseph Ellis (Michigan), who was eighth at last year's NCAA Championship. Kelly and Ellis also faced off at the 2016 NCAA hammer throw championship with Kelly out-throwing Ellis 65.82 to 65.43, and have also competing against each other at the last two NCAA East Regionals as well. Kelly also found marks of 64.86, 68.25, 66.67, 66.77 and 67.19 this afternoon.
In the "B" pole vault, freshman Noah Hurley took seventh, clearing 4.90 (16-0.75) on his second attempt. He was over the first two heights on his first attempt at each.

Freshman Gilron Tsabkevich and sophomore Jesse Thibodeau went 7-8 in the long jump. Tsabkevich recorded a 7.31 (23-11.75) on his best jump and also marks of 7.24 and 7.13. Thibodeau jumped to 7.27 (23-10.25) and had marks of 7.19 and 7.04 as well.
In the shot put, senior Mitchel Charles took 10th with a throw of 15.73 (51-7.25) on his first attempt.
On the track, senior Carrington Akosa had the best time for the Tigers in the 200 at 21.27. In the 800 invitational race, senior Josh Ingalls was fifth at 1:50.03 and teammate Zachary Albright was third in the 1500 at 3:51.73

Day 2 begins tomorrow for Princeton at 11:30 a.m., with the men's discus.
