O'Dell Tosses Personal Best in Shot Put at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas (4/13/18) - Senior Kennedy O'Dell finished Day 1 of the Texas Invitational with a personal best in the shot put as she finished as the runner-up in the event. O'Dell threw to 14.71 (48-3.25) to surpass her previous best of 14.69. After two fouls, she found 14.71 and also hit 13.89, 14.65 and 14.53.
O'Dell started the afternoon with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.78 (183). O'Dell's best throw came on her first attempt, while also throwing to 55.61, 54.35 and 52.28. Last week, at the Sam Howell Invitational she threw a new PR in this event with a 57.89.
Three Tigers competed in the javelin with freshman Rylie Pease having the best throw of the afternoon. Pease was third overall at 40.24 (132) on her fourth attempt, and also hit 39+ meters on four on her attempts. Sophomore Reese Schachne was seventh with a throw of 38.28 (125-7) on her fourth throw of the afternoon. Freshman Julia Harisay was ninth at 33.39 (109-6).
In the "B" pole vault, freshman Alexandra Munson tied for fifth, clearing 3.50 (11-5.75) clearing the height on her second attempt.
Freshman Katie DiFrancesco had the best time for the Tigers in the 200 at 24.26, while senior Christina Walter wasn't far off her PR of 24.41 with a 24.55 today.
Day 2 begins tomorrow for Princeton at noon with the 4x100 relay.
