10/28/2019
UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Former Princeton University men’s basketball standout Myles Stephens can now add professional basketball player to his already impressive list of accolades, as he was drafted by the Long Island Nets in the NBA G League draft on Saturday.
Stephens was drafted with the 10th pick in the second round in a draft that consisted of four rounds of 27 selections. He will be reunited with former Tiger Devin Cannady, who was signed by the Brooklyn Nets on October 15 before being reassigned to Brooklyn’s G League affiliate on Long Island.
Along with contributing to Princeton’s Ivy League title in the 2016-17 season where he earned Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honors, he was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) second team All-District 13 in 2018-19. Stephens was named first team All-Ivy League twice and second team All-Ivy League once along with Ivy League Player of the Week on three different occasions. He was also named Academic All-Ivy League as a senior in 2018-19.

Stephens rewrote the record book during his time at Princeton, as his 1,346 points saw him graduate as the program’s 10th-leading scorer. His 509 made field goals ranks eighth in school history and his 105 made three-pointers ranks 18th. He is also 10th all-time in total rebounds, pulling down 561 throughout his career and his 80 blocked shots rank ninth.

He was also chosen as one of only four Ivy League seniors to represent the conference at the 3x3U National Championships which were held at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, last March. Stephens helped the Ivy League squad make it out of the pool stage and advance to the quarterfinals.

Long Island opens its season in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Saturday, November 9 against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
