Fillier, Thompson at the Winter Olympic Games

Sarah Fillier ‘24 and Claire Thompson ’20 are competing in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy as part of the Canadian women's hockey team.

Canada has medaled in women's hockey at every Games since the women's game was added for the 1998 Games, winning silver in '98 and 2018 and gold every other time, in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and last time out in 2022, with Fillier and Thompson helping the team back to the top.
At the 2022 Games, Fillier and Thompson were two of the six highest-scoring players at the tournament. Thompson ranked fifth with 13 points on two goals and 11 assists across seven games, and Fillier was sixth with 11 points on eight goals and three assists. Thompson's 11 assists were tied for second-most in the tournament, and Fillier's eight goals were second alone. Canada romped through the four-game preliminary round by a combined score of 33-5, with its final group game against Team USA as its closest at 4-2. The quarters and semis saw Canada dispatch Sweden and Switzerland by a combined 21-3, and in the final, a 3-2 win over the Americans delivered gold.
