No. 8 Princeton Blasts No. 11 Clarkson to Sweep North Country Trip
January 31, 2026 | Women's Ice Hockey
Superlatives abounded as the No. 8-ranked Princeton women's hockey team rolled No. 11 Clarkson, 6–1, in Potsdam on Saturday afternoon, completing a North Country weekend sweep for the first time since 2011.
The win broke a tie atop the ECAC Hockey standings, with Princeton reaching 41 points to lead the league with two weekends to play.
Princeton didn't wait long to open the scoring, with Riley Sorokan slipping the game's first goal inside the left post just two minutes into the game. Before the first period was out, Princeton had a 3-0 lead, with Angelina DiGirolamo whipping one home from the slot with four minutes left in the opening frame and Jane Kuehl finishing a breakaway with a goal just 24 seconds later.
The second period saw Princeton score twice more, with Brooklyn Nimegeers tipping a Maggie Johnson blast at the midpoint of the period, and four minutes later, Katherine Khramtsov sprung Kuehl for a breakaway and Kuehl's second goal of the game as Princeton's lead grew to 5-0.
Mackenzie Alexander slammed home a loose puck just past the halfway point of the third period, and though Clarkson spoiled the shutout with a Sara Manness goal just more than a minute later, the final margin was Princeton's largest victory over Clarkson since 1983 (10–1 at Baker) and the program's largest win in Potsdam since 1982 (10–3). It was also Princeton's first win in Potsdam since 2013, and the Tigers' first victory over Clarkson in any venue since the 2020 ECAC tournament semifinal.
Clarkson outshot the Tigers 44-38 on goal, with Uma Corniea making a career-high 43 saves in holding the Golden Knights to one goal. Corniea's previous high was 40 saves, set earlier this season at Quinnipiac.
Assisting on DiGirolamo's and Alexander's goals, senior Emerson O'Leary reached 100 career points, becoming the sixth Tiger in the last decade to reach the century mark.
Princeton will continue the road swing next weekend at Dartmouth and Harvard.
