Women’s Hockey Drops Tough Battle To UConn, 4-1, In NCAA Regional Semifinal

STATE COLLEGE, P.A. - The Princeton Women's Ice Hockey team showcased determination and grit right up until the final whistle at the NCAA Regional Semifinal. While the fight was there, the Tigers ended their season in a 4-1 loss against the UConn Huskies.
Princeton has concluded one of the most historic seasons in program history with its first ever ECAC regular season championship while also making it to the ECAC Semifinals in Lake Placid.
The Tigers finish the season 23-11-0 overall, in Courtney Kessel's debut season as head coach.
The Tigers showcased their defensive and offensive presence strongly in the first, putting up 16 shots on goal, while limiting UConn to just five.
After fighting through a tough Princeton defense, UConn opened up scoring at 16:11 in the first with a goal from Emma Eryou
Princeton entered the second period with their heads held high. With the start of the second period, Riley Sorokan cut the deficit for the Tigers, tying the game 1-1 at 7:48. Assists were credited to Ellie Dimatos and Jane Kuehl. Kuehl picked up her last point as a senior with the Tigers with the assist.
The Huskies answered back shortly after taking the 2-1 lead. The goal was credited to Kyla Josifovic who also continued to score another in third, putting the Huskies up by two.
Princeton pulled their goalie with under three minutes left, allowing Julia Pellerin to add an insurance goal for the Huskies on an empty net.
Uma Corniea stopped 26 out of 30 shots on goal by UConn.
