No. 8 Princeton Turns In Shutout To Open North Country Weekend
January 30, 2026 | Women's Ice Hockey
Angelina DiGirolamo's goal with less than nine minutes to go in the third period opened the scoring and turned out to be the game winner as the No. 8-ranked Princeton women's hockey team defeated St. Lawrence 2-0 on Friday afternoon to open a swing through the North Country.
Mackenzie Alexander added an empty-net goal in the final seconds, and Uma Corniea stopped all 30 Saints shots on goal to pick up the shutout, which was Princeton's seventh shutout on the season and just one from the program record set in the 2002-03 season.Â
DiGirolamo's goal came with eight and a half minutes to go in the game during a Princeton power play, with Gabby Kim taking a shot from beyond the right faceoff circle and DiGirolamo tipping the shot on its way toward goal. Alexander's goal was her 20th of the season, one behind Issy Wunder for the team lead.
With the win and Clarkson's 4-1 win over Quinnipiac just down U.S. 11, the Tigers moved back into first place in ECAC Hockey, sharing the top of the league with Clarkson and setting up a first-place matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Potsdam.
