Princeton Looks To Continue Win Streak; Five Keys For Lafayette/Fordham

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Tigers have two games this week with a home matchup vs. the Lafayette Leopards Wednesday (6 p.m.) and a road meeting at the Fordham Rams on Saturday (2 p.m.). Here are five notes to follow this week.

Back to .500 - Princeton is currently on a three-game winning streak, dropping Rutgers, UMBC and Seton Hall with a scoring margin of +22.7. The team is shooting 40.5 percent from deep, dropping in about 10 threes per game. Princeton is holding opponents to a .329 field goal percentage and a .254 mark from beyond the arc. After getting outrebounded in its first three contests, the Tigers have won the rebounding battle in the last four games with a +10 margin.Â

Sharing Is Caring – The Tigers lead the Ivy League in assists (15.3), posting double-digits in six of their previous seven matchups. Head coach Courtney Banghart's squad has two players among the conference's top 15 in Leslie Robinson (9th, 2.5) and Bella Alarie (15th, 2.3). During its three-game winning streak, Princeton is dishing out 20 helpers a night and have assisted on 73 percent of their made baskets.

Lafayette Offense – The Leopards' offense places 302nd in the country in assists per game (10.3), 335th in three-point field goal percentage (22.8) and 338th in scoring offense (49.6). Lafayette's top offensive output was 58 points in a loss at Rider (Nov. 14). The Leopards have scored under 50 points in five of their last six, while in its last three games, Princeton has given up 53 points per contest.

G'Mrice Davis – Davis is the Rams' leading scorer (12.6), rebounder (11.8) and has snagged the most steals on the team (1.4). The junior is sixth in all of Division-I in rebounding and has posted three double-doubles this season. Davis' best game was a 15-point and 21-rebound performance vs. Grambling State (Nov. 27). She is shooting .472 (42-of-89) from the floor this year. The Tigers have six players averaging at least three rebounds per game and will need a group effort to prevent Davis from another stellar outing.

Defense Wins Games – Fordham ranks in the top 50 nationally in scoring defense (56.4) and is also 19th in three-point field goal defense (25.0). During the Rams' current winning streak, they are allowing just 51 points per bout. In the midst of three consecutive victories, Princeton is scoring over 75 points a contest with four players averaging double figures in scoring (Alarie, Brown, Weledji and Holland).
