Natalie has co-founded a non-profit startup called HomeWorks, an after-school boarding program for both homeless girls, and girls with unstable home lives.
Inspired in her "Topics For Social Entrepreneurship" with Marty Johnson last spring, Natalie — who grew up with a passion for education — wanted to find a way to fuse her interest in entrepreneurship with her belief in boarding schools, especially following a terrific experience at The Lawrenceville School. Working with the Princeton Entrepreneurial Hub, Natalie has put together a team of five Princeton students, and she is working on developing a sustainable business model, while also researching and establishing connections within Trenton.
Her goal is to create a program for approximately 40 girls that allows them to go to their own public schools in the morning, and then return to their program for opportunities to work individually with tutors, eat meals, partner with various programs in Trenton for opportunities in sports/dance/other arts, and complete their evenings with time for bonding or other curriculum-based activities.
Natalie on Natalie:
"I am the most happy when I feel like I can make a difference, and when there is meaning to the work. My parents were able to support me and allow me to come to these amazing schools, and I don't want to waste this opportunity. I want to use my education to give back. I feel like that is the whole purpose of why I am here at Princeton. I have always been passionate about doing something, but doing something in entrepreneurship, it does allow me to have control over it."
