September 19
Princeton defeats Cornell 6-0 in the first game at Princeton Stadium. Senior placekicker Alex Sierk scores the first points in the new building on a 47-yard field goal.
October 30
Princeton captures its first victory in sprint football since 1995 with an emotional 21-20 overtime win against Navy.
October 31
The men's cross country team wins its second consecutive Heptagonal championship at Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y.
November 21
The field hockey team avenges a regular-season loss and advances to the national championship game with a 4-1 win over Connecticut in the NCAA semifinals at Pennsylvania.
February 9
The men's basketball team trails Penn 29-3 at the Palestra nearly 16 minutes into the game and goes down 40-13 with 15 minutes left before the Tigers stage one of the most unbelievable comebacks in basketball history and rally for a 50-49 win.
February 21
The women's squash team wins its second consecutive national championship at the Howe Cup, defeating Harvard 5-4 in the final. Also, a 22-10 win in Cambridge gives the women's fencing team its first-ever Ivy League crown.
February 25-27
In conjunction with the Ivy League's 25th Anniversary celebration of women's athletics, Princeton hosts the 1999 women's Ivy swimming championship.
February 27
The women's basketball team clinches a share of the Ivy League title for the first time since 1985 with a 45-36 win against Columbia in New York City.
March 13
Princeton sweeps the individual national squash championships as sophomore Julia Beaver and senior Peter Yik capture the WISRA and NISRA titles, respectively.
March 13
In the first-ever ECAC quarterfinals at Baker Rink, the men's hockey team advances to the Final Five with a dramatic 6-5 come-from-behind victory against Cornell.
April 17
The women's golf team overcomes a four-stroke deficit in the final round to claim the program's first Ivy League title. Sophomore Julia Allison captures the individual title.
April 25
Senior Josh Sims scores with 25 seconds left in the fourth overtime to give the men's lacrosse team a 15-14 win at Syracuse.
May 2
With 181 points Princeton captures the third and final leg of the Heptagonal Triple Crown for the second straight year, finishing off a "repeat three-peat." Junior John Mack is named Outstanding Performer at the meet.
May 27
Kirsty Hale (field hockey) and Caitlin Rich (fencing) share the C. Otto von Kienbusch Award and Brian Earl (basketball), Jeff Halpern (hockey) and Matt Evans (football and baseball) share the William W. Roper Trophy as the outstanding senior athletes at the Princeton Varsity Club Senior Athlete Banquet.
May 29
In only its second season as a varsity sport, the women's lightweight crew captures its first national title at the IRA Championships in Camden, N.J. The men's heavyweight crew breaks the IRA record but places second in the national championship race behind California.
