Grumet-Morris tallies three points in win over Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - Princeton defender Aviva Grumet-Morris (Sr., Evanston, Ill.), after assisting on two goals, scored her first goal of the year in the third period Saturday evening to cap a 4-1 Tiger victory against Cornell, completing a 2-0 ECAC weekend.
Cornell (2-8-0 overall, 1-3-0 ECAC-N) got off to a quick start when forward Sarah Olivier (Sr., Gloucester, Ont.) scored at 5:14 of the first to put the Big Red up 1-0. Princeton (5-3-2, 3-2-0 ECAC-N) took control in the second, scoring four unanswered goals in a 16-minute stretch over the final two periods. Tiger left-winger Gretchen Anderson (So., Natick, Mass.) evened the score at 11:59 of the second before center Lisa Rasmussen (So., Washington, D.C.) put Princeton ahead for good at 15:14.
Just 42 seconds into the third period, right-winger Susan Hobson (So., Mississuaga, Ont.) punched in another goal, giving the Tigers a 3-1 lead. Seven minutes later, Grumet-Morris added the final goal of the game.
Princeton goalie Megan Van Beusekom (So., Loretto, Minn.) faced only 19 shots on the night, saving 18. Cornell goalie Sanya Sandahl (Jr., Superior, Wisc.) stopped 30 of 34 shots for the Big Red.
The two squads combined for 16 penalties on the night, with Princeton converting on two of its five chances while Cornell went scoreless in six opportunities.
Princeton plays next Saturday at home against New Hampshire at 2:00pm. Cornell has almost a month off before its next game against Toronto at Niagara University in New York on Dec. 29.
