Princeton, N.J. - Abby Studer recorded a game-high 19 kills and 5.5 blocks as the Tigers defeated Yale 3-1 in women's volleyball action. With the win Princeton improves to 16-5, 9-3 Ivy on the season. Yale slips to 9-10, 6-6 Ivy. Princeton remains two games behind Penn in the Ivy title race.
Yale took the first game 30-27, but the Tigers found their grove and won the following three games 30-13, 30-27, 30-27. Studer's 19 kills were complemented by a .563 hitting percentage with only one error in 32 attempts. Studer strung together four consecutive solo blocks in the second game as the Tigers evened the match. Kellie Cramm recorded 18 kills on 33 attempts and Michelle Buffum tallied 17 kills on 32 attempts and a team-high 13 digs. Jenny Senske led Princeton with 57 assists.
Jana Freeman had 17 kills for Yale and Lauren Burke had 15 for the Bulldogs.
Penn must lose tomorrow against Yale if the Tigers are to capture a share of the Ivy title. This evening Penn defeated Brown 3-1 and improved to 11-1 in the league. Princeton will face Brown on Saturday, November 16 at 4:00 p.m. and will host Penn on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. in its final regular season match.
